Frugal Ways To Practice Self Care

There’s this stigma that self-care only happens if you’re spending lots of money. Well, I’m here to tell you that, that is far from the truth! You can have a budget friendly self-care routine and below I’ll be sharing some ways you can do it.

While we’re here, let’s address what self-care looks like. Each person has a different experience so don’t feel pressured to make your self-care journey look like anyone else’s. I like to think of self-care as something YOU love to do that helps you ease your mind and allows you to decompress from all the stress.

Here are some ideas of the frugal ways to practice self -care in your daily routine.

Baths

I’ll be honest I prefer the shower, but every once in a while, I NEED some extra time alone to wine down. Fill your tub up with some water, put your bubbles or bath bombs In there, find your favorite book or turn on some soothing music and enjoy your time alone. This is something you can either do early morning to get a great start to your day or in the evening to end your day.

Put on your favorite show

It’s something about watching a really good show that does it for me. I like to pop open some my favorite wine (linked here) and relax my mind. No judging here y’all, we’re family plus, who doesn’t love a nice glass of wine. Fun fact, I love watching all the Ratchet Tv LOL but, here are some great series you can start watching: Chicago Fire, Station 19. 9-1-1, 9-1-1 lone star (yes, they’re all fire fighter shows, No judging remember lol). Those are all of my favorites as of lately.

Going for a walk:

If you can get some time away,( because let’s be honest that’s another major issue if you have a large family, is being able to get away), go for a walk in your neighborhood. I know for me, it always relaxes me.

Writing in your journal

I love being able to write my thoughts out, and coming back to read how I felt on a very particular day. Sometimes when I’m having a bad day I go through my journal and read how I process all of my previous bad days. I let myself feel those emotions but I don’t dwell in them.

These are some of the things that I do to practice self-care that doesn’t require me having to spend any money.

Remember, self-care is whatever you choose it to be and mean to you.
